I’m ill
You know I’m sick in the head
There are days when I struggle just to get out of bed
It’s a problem
When your overactive mind is telling you you’re not fine
And your head is a mine

Bout to blow up
Feel like I’ma explode
With these worries and these fears I just can’t seem to unload
Am I broken? Am I worthless?
Is everything I do really helping my purpose?

I don’t know
I’m so distressed
And I know I’m depressed but I can’t get a rest
And I hate this
Yeah I feel like a fool
All my problems are inside me and my brain’s a cesspool

I’m anxious
That’s what my therapist said
Put a label on my head and that just filled me with dread
Is this a sickness? Will I ever recover?
Am I gonna be okay or am I just like the others?

The depressed generation
We’re all mentally ill
But I don’t think that term really quite fits the bill
We’re not sick!
We’re disabled
You don’t just get over it you have to work to be able

Learn to cope
Not recover
And it’s not a disease
It’s a chemical imbalance you just try to appease
Every day
Take your pills
Like you’re just a machine
Every morning you wake up you’re not anxiety free

It comes back when it wants and you don’t have full control
It’s a nightmare in your daydreams like you’re just on parole
Back to prison, you’re the cell, and you locked yourself in
Wish that you could break your door down but that’d just let it in

It doesn’t matter
What it is
What matters most is that you recognize it as a problem
Find your trigger
Learn to deal with yourself
Knowledge is the greatest power when it comes to mental health

Speak out
Don’t just keep it inside
If nobody ever knows then of course it resides
If you feel you’re alone, know that that’s not true
Cause there's a million others out there who feel just like you

You’re not okay
And that’s fine
Never let someone tell you that you are living a lie
Your experience is valid and you’re going to get through this mental health does not define you and you’re no less of a human.
